The Horrifying Holiday

I thought it would be a normal day, wrong. I could not be more wrong.

It all began in the early morning ... I woke up to Myrtle, my Norwegian Forest Cat, looking distressed with her tail looking like one of those extra bristly toothbrushes you can get from Tesco's Aisle 19. I thought nothing of it because I believed she might have seen a mouse or a different small rodent, but I decided to be wary; because Myrtle’s senses have never lied to me before.

The cruise, which had recently stopped off at a port at south Asia, was now speeding at its maximum speed towards the Maldives. I estimated it would take two days to reach the Maldives.

Suddenly, Myrtle's ears pricked up and she arched her back up so she was standing at her maximum height which is about 4 feet. By the way if she did that to anyone else, they would probably run off shouting "Don't Kill ME!", we know from experience.

After I got dressed, me and Myrtle ran down the hallway singing "Never gonna give you up" - Myrtle purred to the lyrics.

We were at 'Never gonna turn around' when we reached the stairs that led down to the VIP breakfast buffet. I immediately chucked a bowl full of the best tuna I have ever known at my furry friend. Then I put a fresh batch of pancakes on my place.

When we were eating, I somehow did not see it stalking my every move and growing in size.

I never thought the song “Yellow Submarine” could almost kill me; but there is always a first time for everything!  The guards were singing Yellow Submarine when they let it in.  This was at the Southern Asia port.  I did not realise it was on until it was too late.

After breakfast, I tried the water slide called the “Preying Mantis” it was brilliant until the whole boat shuddered, and everyone went into panic mode.

I heard the echoes of the screams crawl up the slide like a spider would!  Then the captain’s advisor hissed out of a loudspeaker; "Everybody stay calm! and" …

He was cut short by the captain screaming "RUN TO YOUR ROOM, YOU NANCIES!"

Then he noted that the restaurants and water slides were closing down, meaning that I would have to follow whoever of whatever was waiting for me. To make matters worse, the boat abruptly halted ruining any chance of me getting a peaceful holiday.

When I eventually got down the slide, fear crawled up my spine, scratching at my back and etching away the confidence I summoned five seconds ago.  I saw an Asian Preying Mantis, but it had somehow grown 6 times larger than me and I consider myself tall a 6ft 1!

Myrtle was somewhat holding her own; dodging its punches which tore holes in the boat.

Now I had seen the beast I wanted to crawl back up the water slide, but the Preying Mantis already smashed it to smithereens. Out of the blue, the Asian Praying Mantis grabbed Myrtle and held her over the edge. “NOOO!” I screamed, jumping over the boat grabbing  Myrtle, who jumped onto the dangling anchor, keeping her and her fur safe from the frothy seas below.

Unluckily, I could not say the same about me; I plummeted into the chaos below. Maybe my luck was beginning to turn around because the Praying Mantis toppled off the boat, and clearly wasn’t as good a swimmer as me, he sank into the waves, meaning we were safe... for now...

We were relaxing on a sunbed in the Maldives when they caught up to us; the paparazzi! You see see after me and Myrtle saved the day - Myrtle dropped the anchor on the Preying Mantiis - we became instant heroes and were on the news within twenty minutes of the event, so everyone now wanted our autographs!

So next time we're on holiday, we will be the ones hiding in the cabins watching people save the day!
